Very nice looking Drahts (?)

What kennel is yours from, the older one. It looks on the smaller side. I have two drahts. One is 75lbs---BIG FRAMED GIRL, the other is 40lbs---polar opposites physically. Personally I like the smaller line for upland hunting.

Good looking pup you got too....

Family reunion day. Bella (sister), Finn, Bulliet (half brother)

Hunting was very mediocre, scenery and companionship was sublime. The breeder I bought Finn from has become a very good friend.

It was fun watching all the dogs work together. They hit the heavy cover like champs. Bulliet is learning how to be a bird dog. Bella and Fin hunt very differently, probably a product of their early exposure period. He’s a much bigger runner and air searcher than she is.

Fun day, spearmint gum and all.

Von den Kaskaden. Finn is only about 63 pounds, his size is perfect for my style of hunting.

Finn took me on a camp out. I spent $6.25 on a coffee and tip, figuring that was better than spending it on chew.

Birds were a little sparse today. Couldn’t have asked for a better day.

After a cold night of wondering why I didn’t bring two sleeping bags, we hit it again. Far different weather today.

Finn is an incredible retriever. He delivered a bird to hand out of this hole.

That looks like some awesome country and a lot of fun. Makes me miss chasing sharptails and pheasants with my lab, lost her this spring and that's kinda killed my interest in doing any bird hunting. The real fun is watching a good dog work

I agree 110% on watching the dog work. Sorry to hear about your dog. There’s one out there, waiting for a good owner to take them hunting.

One day I'll have another, we had a good run. 13.5 years and she hunted last fall, cancer got her and she went downhill quick. Still a bit too soon for a new pup for me.

The Draht is a very intriguing dog. I do Airedales right now, but a Draht in the pack might work in the future. Looks like you have a very devoted, hard-working, companion.

Finn and I escaped Snowmageddon and took our fancy donuts on a trip. We met Rich and Bulliet.

We hunted the two bearded fools together on New Years Day. Results were about as expected. Lots of grabassery and pushed birds. Bulliet did point a single Hun and Rich shot it.

We ate elk burgers with smoked white cheddar. They sucked. The beer was too cold as well.

Sunday Finn and I flew solo. I’ve hunted this spot before. It’s a tough hunt and always a little underwhelming in terms of birds. I picked this day for a horrid shooting day. The first few coveys flushed super wild, and I let that get in my head and started rushing everything. I was lucky to come back with two birds.

Today I met up with a good friend who first steered me to Drahthaars. We had a fabulous day. It was unbelievably muddy.

Willow is 13 months old, so we had more grabassery and flushed birds.

Despite being absolutely shot from three straight days of hunting the canyon lands, we scratched out five birds today. Finn threw down some damned fine points and continues to amaze me with how far away he can pick up birds.

Not a bad start to 2021. More to come.

@Hunting Wife the donuts were awesome.

Finn has sure grown into a fine looking dog.
Thank you, he really has filled out well. I still haven't ruled out advertising Finn as a stud dog. I'm leaning towards having his x-rays and genetic marker tests done this year, and if they are clean I'll take him to a breed show next winter and have him certified so he can be issued a breeding number.

Really nice pics, and great dog stuff. Stay off the chew, I quite 14 months ago after 41 years of chewing it is bad chit.
