Fierce or Christensen Arms?

I have both Fierce Carbon Rival in 28 Nosler & CA Ridgeline in 300 WM. Both shoot great 1/2 moa on both I have had problems with the Ridgeline not chambering or chambering very hard once fired brass I’ve tried many different things to try to rectify this with no luck, new brass shoots fantastic. The Fierce hasn’t given me any problems chambering anything & it shoots great as well. Rival was a little more expensive but worth it
Just a little fyi.
This is very likely a sizing die or sizing die setup issue. Have you measured the used brass headspace before and after sizing?

So is this specific to altitude, or is it folks just can’t estimate range as well in mountainous terrain? Are the mountains at 5k feet different than 12k?
Dont know. Ive hunted around 5-6,000'. Ask others.

Don't have any personal experience with either, but one of my friends has a CA Mesa in 300 prc and he mounted a zeiss 44mm scope on it, bore sighted it and it took him 2 boxes of ammo and almost $150 bucks later to get it to a 1 moa zero at 100. After the first couple of shots we rechecked the mounting of the scope, let the rifle cool between shots, etc and it still wouldn't hold the advertised group that CA gives. He still has the rifle, but barely uses it. That's my only experience with CA.

I have two CA Mesas. They are both MOA. The first one, a 6.5 PRC had to go back to the factory for feeding issues. They were fantastic in resolving the issue. I read a lengthy and very unflattering thread on Fierce on another forum. Fierce was dismissive and condescending toward an owner with an obvious problem. The owner told him to get a lawyer. He did and won. The poster had documented the interactions very well, so it wasn't just sour grapes. I'll never buy a Fierce. In that space, I'll go Seekins.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

Thanks again,

Understood. Thank you for the info and will do!

I have a Fierce carbon fury 300wm that is a Canada made rifle. It has been very dependable for me and it shoots well. I've read reports on both. You hear more of the bad ones than you do the good ones.

Hell, i might as well give my 2 cents worth. A lovely single shot of european make.
The first shot counts, all the others are hurried, make the first count. Some are so beautiful youll be taking it to bed with you, every time you hold it in your hand out hunting your face will smile.

Hopping on the train here. I had a CA Mesa that patterned like a smoothbore musket. Sent it back twice, they said they swapped barrels, but it never improved much. Absolute POS.

Also watched a dude at a range few months ago fight with one of the infamous Fierce 6.5 PRCs to get it to load correctly. Looked like a nightmare.

Truly, those are probably the last two manufacturers I'd ever consider. As others have said, look at Howa, Winchester, Weatherby or Seekins if you're interested in a serious hunting rifle.

Thank you for your reply and for sharing your experience but Howa and Seekins don't make left handed rifles. I really wish that Seekins did make left handed rifles though. And Winchester doesn't make the Model 70 currently in left hand either. I have always considered Weatherby and that is probably what I will end up going with. Weatherby, Tikka, or Savage are the 3 that I am mostly considering.

Thank you again for your reply and for sharing your experiences, it is appreciated!

I have a very early version of the CA MPR that started out in 300 PRC. Two barrels of 300 PRC later I went with a 6.5 PRC for the 3rd barrel. It shot in the 0.3-0.45" for 3 shots at 100y with both 300 PRC barrels. Haven't shot the 6.5 barrel yet enough to find a load for it.
My two elk hunting buddies both bought CA rifles in 300 PRC as well. They dropped them off with me to install optics, get zero'd, and build DOPE cards for them.
One is a Mesa and one is a Ridgeline.
Both were sub-MOA out of the box with factory 225 ELD-M ammo.
Thus far no issues with any of the three rifles although only one has had enough rounds through it to make a realistic appraisal. I would not hesitate to purchase another one.
I do not have enough trigger time with any Fierce guns to give an opinion.

I recently purchased a Christensen MPR .338LM and its accuracy is undeniable. However, I did experience some case extraction issues. I called CA customer service, told them the problem and they sent out new parts of which I got in a week. This is what I experienced with Christensen arms. Upon getting the rifle I followed the break in procedures fully and have been experiencing outstanding accuracy since. Would i buy another, no. I got one.

ARC Coup De Grace action can be set up either left or right handed. Couple that with a good barrel and a trigger of your choice and any REM 700 patten short action stock and you are in business. I have chambered many many barrels for the ARC actions, own one for my own use as well. Great actions, top shelf quality. It might end up costing a little more in the end, but you will get what you want and have a better rifle if you use a good builder.
