Favorite EDC...what'cha got

Benchmade mini-barrage. Nice size, not too big, not too small. Holds an edge. I took it with me to Alaska in 2019 on my Grizzly Bear hunt. In addition to $$$ cash for my guide as a tip, I also had a Ruana knife made for him. He really liked the knife.
I had a mini barrage at one point. It was 65 degrees out so I went deer hunting in sweat pants and it fell out of my pocket. Never would have happened if I was wearing my finest First Lite.

Here’s a knife review nobody asked for. Since my Ozark Trail sleeps with the fishes now, I decided to get mini-KalashniCOB. Honestly probably not worth the money, but at like $67 the automatic deployment is pretty good and fun to fidget with. It was pretty dull and had a bad grind out of the box so I had to reshape the blade a little. The clip is ass. The aluminum handle is pretty robust but I’m not a fan of the finger grooves. Just hard to grab the knife the way I want to. Overall, I probably wouldn’t buy it again, or I would buy the bigger version to be more of a beater.

Kershaw Happa Folder. 2.75in blade. It is a bit small but the size means it always finds a way to get clipped to my pocket. It will and has done all manner of cool things, but 90%+ of its duties seems to be opening Amazon boxes and cleaning under my nails.

My Kershaw, belonged to my dad many years ago. It has also been everywhere and done most everything.
I have lost it twice, once for 6 months, but I still posses it.20260320_094213.jpg

Fair review! finger grooves lose me on knives and revolvers.

My previous post shows the Ontario Rat2. Handy little knife, not sure why they aren’t more popular! Rat1 is kind of a chunky size for a pocket folder but the Rat2 is a bit small for my hands. They came out with an in between as a Rat1.5 that I’ve been meaning to grab. Check them out and try one!

Had to change it up finally. Went back in the files a bit to look. Carried that model of flashlight since 2012. Streamlight ProTac 2AAA. I know I had two for sure, but might have been a couple more. I know I bought plenty as gifts. Wish I had bought more. I lost one hunting pronghorn in 2024. The tail cap switch quit working on this one a week or so ago. Streamlight discontinued them. I reached to customer support and they are sending me a few parts, but I think it’s time to really retire it.

I was in Scheels yesterday and got my hands on a few of the other similar models. Came away with the ProTac 1L-1AA. Shorter, fatter, different pocket clip. Might grow on me, but it’s weird having so much familiarity with something and having to switch. I’m definitely a creature of habit about stuff like this.

Streamlights are great. I bought a protac 1AAA in 2019 while in Kodiak. Looks a lot different than back then and I've had to fix it once, the back cap was losing connection so made a .012" aluminum washer to fit in there to remake the circuit. Thought about buying a new one but don't like that it's fatter than this one but the clip is great since you can clip it both directions.

My daily carry include that light and a cheap S&W knife that gets used for things it should be used for. Also have a zebra gel pen that has a custom clip and grip that I made because the original sucked.
