Favorite 100% copper bullets for 300 Win Mag handloads?

I use 180 grain Barnes TTSX. I developed decent loads with both H1000 and H4831. With all copper you can step down a weight class. Would have similar retained weights but get more velocity and flatter trajectory. It just depends what you are after. I’ve had success with Hornady GMX (old version of CX) in my 270. I haven’t tried the hammers.
Hey, I know im a bit late to the party, but would you mind giving some specifics on your H1000 loads? Im working on the exact same thing and just cant get a nice group. OAL, load, etc... would appreciate it! TIA!

I’ll pm you some info. Traveling for work this week but will let you know when U get home and can look at my loading log.

2 things to consider. First some rifles don’t shoot mono bullets well if barrel is fowled with cup and core or other guilted metals. My 270 I need to clean the bore if I’ve shot other bullets before shooting monos.

Second I’ve generally had better luck seating the monolithic bullets a little deeper than I would with a lead core bullet.

I’ll admit I am far from the most knowledgeable on reloading. I know a fair bit but there are plenty of others on this forum and other places who know more.

Thanks man!

Thats good to know. I've been shooting the ttsx on my 300 wm and have had a few "ok" batches but definitely nothing actually GOOD!
I tried seating them a tiny bit lower but didnt work. I thought of seating them actually longer since some other bullets and loads worked that way.
I appreciate the help!

Cheers!

Hi fellow Hunttalkers,
I am researching an ideal 100% copper bullet for elk hunting in my 300 Win Mag and seeing that Hammer, Barnes, and Nosler are quite popular. What copper bullet and bullet weight have you settled on for the men and women with 300 Win Mags for your elk hunt round? Also desiring a 100% copper bullet to be more wildlife-friendly and to avoid possibly sending lead fragments through the meat grinder.
I am shooting a Howa 1500 with 24" barrel and Howa factory muzzle brake.
I have had good results with Barnes TTSX.
