Had a great, although short, Fall turkey hunt this week. Myself and a couple of friends filled out on fall turkeys in Hell's Canyon on Wednesday. One guy got a hen in the morning then my friend Mike and I filled out on these two toms that afternoon at the same time. Saw a ton of birds and we got these two out of a group of about 6 toms working along a ridge line above us. I shot the first in line and he shot number three. We couldn't actually see the beards at the shot to know how big they were but we both figured they would be good enough no matter what. Mine ended up being right at 9", his spurs aren't real long but are rounded off and worn looking. Mikes had a beard about the same length but thicker and with some long sharp spurs. Great birds all the way around and I'm half way to a US grand slam of turkeys in one year. My bird is on the right in these photos.
