Fall Pictures 2016 Edition

Last week on a pronghorn hunting trip in northwest Colorado, I took a few photos of the country and the drive back......

A thunderstorm came in with lightning and heavy rain. Was two miles in on foot and got out of there just in time. The roads turned to mucky clay that so packed the wheel wells of another hunter's 4WD vehicle that it couldn't move forward. I helped dig out the wheel wells and got him out onto better a graveled road. Then the snow started in.

Heading home I drove up the Williams Fork and over Ripple Creek Pass in a snowstorm, then over the Buford Road on the Flat Tops Plateau.
Beautiful drive as always, and the slick muddy roads impressed upon me the need to get new tires and shocks on the truck before winter.

I visited my elk hunting camp in the Flat Tops area and was reminded of how beautiful it is, and that I need to be well prepared when going into the country.

Second season rifle elk hunt begins in nine days!

A bird-less but fantastic evening in the marsh.

The "smoke" on the right side of the horizon is a vortex of grackles. Gotta love Kansas.

Best time of the year!
