Explain Ranching for Wildlife

Limit it on the public, but whooooaa... not on the private. We can't do that.

Maybe it is my lack of perspective... But Rob, we are no where even close to RFW, there is no need for more tags in a state that has annual undersells.

Buzz, do I like the "shoulder season"? No, is the short answer, but it will help to manage districts that are over objective, and might be an opportunity to hunt elk over Christmas with my son.

If I were King we would not have shoulder seasons, we would have "cow elk unlimited hunts"....these would take place just like the sheep hunts in the unlimited area....you kill a cow, you call it in, when objective number is reached of say 250 dead cow elk, season is over, if we could not do it in 5 week rifle season, the following year the last week of rifle season would be cow/doe only, if that did not work, last 2 weeks the year following would be cow/doe season only. This is would be much more effective than issuing more limited cow permits, or having the shoulder season.... I tend to agree, 5 weeks of rifle hunting is a lot, to much in fact.
