Location
great state of Idaho....
This was a rough October, life got in the way and turned into a November hunt. Which is a little different than what I’m used too, I’m pretty sure I like September and early October hunts better! 20’s and snow is generally not my forte. Started this hunt on the morning of Oct 31 rolling out of my driveway with the trailer and 4 goats.

Day-1
Glassed a bunch as I worked my way up the mountains to a predetermined camping location. I chose a lower in elevation spot since it was supposed to snow 15+ inches of snow. Got to the spot about noon, took about 2 hours to get camp all setup for the next week of hunting. About 4 pm I went on a walk around with the goats and rifle till dark. Some relatively fresh tracks, nothing was spotted though.

Day-2
Woke up to some ice/snow falling on the tent! Got the generator and coffee pot brewing, I know @JohnCushman @Gerald Martin @brymoore @Randy Hodges enjoyed this part of the Moose hunt.
Waited till it got barely light out and headed to a trailhead up the road. Got there, hiked a little past snow line and back, 2.7 mile up, 2.7 back. Nothing was seen…..

Day-3
I awoke to it snowing like crazy, fed the goats, started the generator and made a pot of coffee. Kinda took my time since it was snowing and couldn’t glass much. After the coffee was done hoped in the truck/trailer and headed out. Still to foggy so I decided to drive around the units I was able to hunt and see if I could find an area to glass. First couple of hours not much going on.
Rolling down the main highway I pulled off and found a few hillsides that were glassable. Right of the bat I spotted a herd behind me a bit, quickly flipped a Ueeee and hoped on the nearest road headed that way, got about a mile or so from them. Put the spotting scope up and seen horns right away, threw the spotting scope back in the truck and rolled out. Drove to about even with them, The elk were maybe 1200 yards up and over the ridge I parked in front off. Grab my Bino‘s, rangefinder, rifle, and pack, then a whole butt up the ridge. There were a few other trucks out driving around and wanted to get this one on the ground. Got up the ridge eased my way closer, spotted them at about 575 yards. Crept a little closer so I could have a prone shot, 475 yards, dialed the 6.5x.300 Weatherby magnum to 5.75 moa/clicks. Got settled down and rock steady, fire in the hole! BOOM — Whapppp! Ran maybe 50 yards and over he fell! Had no time to even get the phone out to record and he was done. I also was in a hurry and no kill shot like last year unfortunately. Nice thing it was only 500 yards back to the truck. Made back down got all goats out and saddled and off we went, had to take a little bit longer route there so we could follow a 4 wheeler trail instead of cross country. Was an easy hike over and an easy hike back! Enjoy the pics.

Lots of meat! Brought out 175lbs of boned out elk, mostly on 3 goats, the one only had 16lbs on it, the rest each took 50lbs. And no I did not get dinged by the scope, just blood from the elk on my nose….

I was getting ready to ask if you got scoped lol.
Congrats on the bull. Your goats definitely seem like an asset to your hunting.
