Hello hunters i’ve decided to go with a electric bike. Looking for real world feedback. performance, reliability, pulling a game cart . As far as cost looking at the 4k range. Thanks in advance.

I have a Frey Hunter that I got a few years ago. My dad got one at the same time. Between us we probably have 500-600 miles on them with no issues. They have power to spare. They’ll climb anything that’s not so steep you’ll flip over backwards.

Can’t believe they’ve over doubled in price since we got ours!

I don’t really understand the controversy of e-bikes as long as they are used where other motorized vehicles are allowed. I use mine to get around the farm quickly and quietly when needed.
I don't really have a problem when they're treated like motorbikes. But that begs the question, why not just get an e-motorbike?

I like having pedals as a backup. I also use them to get exercise. But, make no mistake, they are motorized and should be treated as such.

What has youtube told you so far? I'm curious if any e-bike can handle a 2-300 pound person and a trailer with gear and/or the dead critter, but would like to see it.

So after this thread I have spent the weekend really looking into this and wow, so many options and you really need to know the rules/laws for the states you want to use it in. I don't currently own one, but after having the last week off and walking the public land I could have used a bike on is when I started to look. I would not want to spend $4000, but you do you, so many options for way less IMO.

I have found no less than 10 bikes that people claim are "hunting" ebikes, but most youtubers are just salesman and you have to realize that to find the real people who have real world videos of testing the bikes. There are very few long term test videos that I could fined either.

Thing I learned or thought of....Can it climb a good grade, many can't. To climb a good grade you might need a type 3 bike, but a few show a type 2 doing a "decent" hill climb with pedaling. Cost, all over the place, but one I really like is the PUJH PU3 PRO. The issue is that I believe this is a type 3 bike and some/many spots only allow type1 and 2. You can make this a type 2 I think by turning some option on or off. Comfort as in adjustable suspension, brakes, get hydraulic as they are better. Torque, I believe I read/heard get a motor above 70-80Nm. Motors, mid drive is better than hub, but more expensive. IMO, stick with a 48V or higher bike.

I still have way more research to do before I would jump in. So many internet salesmans that really don't USE the bike, just show you set up and an on the street video while blowing the crap specs out while riding :)

This is one of those areas where a good reputable bike shop comes in handy(multiple visits to multiple shops. Don’t call.)The dudes working on them know what is and is not good. Sort through the “bro” talk and opinions and you probably will find some solid usable info.

Just a thought. Does turning on an option to make it a class 2 NOT make it a class 3 anymore, or is it still a class 3 that's been "downshifted"?
