Worthwhile place to escape to for a mini vacation in Jan? Figure a cabin for at least three nights. Things to do?

Mesa Verde, although may be cold that time of year. Boratory ski resort is ok. I can't remember if the train goes all winter or not(Durango Silverton narrow gauge). It may just go up halfway and come back.
