Bill Butler (i think) of Billings wrote a book called the Versatile Trophy hunter in which he describes his 4 (!) unlimited rams and offers some insight. I don’t know if his advice is any good or not but there can’t be too many people with that kind of success record. He’s not Robert Ruark or anything but it’s an interesting read that might offer some insight.
