Newbie to this forum. After over 20 years of donations, I have finally drawn a sheep tag. It is for the southwest 14C area, after looking at the draw results I feel like I’m at a bit of a disadvantage, living and working in the interior. The other draw winners for my hunt days, all live within about an hour of the Hunt area. I will only be able to scout as many times as I can afford to takeoff work and drive the 6 hours each way. Nonetheless, I am ecstatic. I’ve been super stoked for a month now! If anybody has drawn this tag before and would be willing to share any information or anything at all I would gladly take it, preferably through private message, e mail, text etc. I have been E scouting and watching every video I can find since the results came out. I’m quite familiar with the Alaska range, but I’ve never been up in those mountains down there. I’m a bit reluctant and feel awkward asking about a sheep hunting area, but I figured since this was a draw maybe it wasn’t quite as tight lipped as the rest of the Sheep hunting community. Worth a shot, thanks!

Reach out to some outfitters in the area. Reach out to the biologist. You may be surprised what people will be willing to share on a draw tag.

If you want to do it on your own I would advise getting in touch with a flight service that can drop you off. I drew a Chugach tag several years ago and it was nice getting dropped off where there were rams rather than hiking miles to get to them. I'm not sure where the SW unit is located but it may not matter as much there? The best drop spots tend to get swallowed up pretty fast so I'd jump on it if that is your plan.
