The river has been picking up steam the past week or so. Second trip, second limit. On the water at 6, off at 10.

Haven't found the fat catch and release females yet, but it's hard to complain about a fish box full of 18" eaters.

Lots of freighter traffic today, and caught 3/4's of our fish underneath the towers for the new Gordie Howe bridge.

Brown on black or blue ice on black have been the ticket in 40 fow. Zero wind today made for some very nice floats. No bruised thighs from banging against the gunwale.

Nice looking bunch of walleye, ugly looking fishing spot.

Uptown on the river walk is kind of neat fishing under skyscrapers or up near Belle Isle or south of Ecourse is also not as "ugly". I kind of enjoy fishing in the industrial area though. With the insane amount of boat traffic and the dystopian landscape it feels a bit like your in a Mad Max movie.

We fish the southern end of Lake Michigan which is a lot of steel mills and industrial area. Not at all pretty but we have some pretty good fishing.

Buddy of mine and two of his work buddies pulled up a three man limit by 10am. I'm tempted to go give it a shot but the river 20 minutes from my house opens up soooo soon it almost doesn't seem worth it to drive to the ghetto to fish 😆

Worked for them a bit yesterday and today, 3 man limit yesterday and a 5 man limit today.

Found a hole early with some bigger fish in the 22-24" range this morning. Put 8 in the boat on our best float around 6:30. Tossed back 10 or so fish that were questionable. Tucked the boat away in the slip around 11 this morning.

10ft of water clarity and sunshine made the bite finicky at times. Less than 30fow natural colors were all they wanted, brown or black wyandotte worms on green or black heads. Out deeper we had luck with orange/white on chartreuse or neon green heads, and I think there was a couple fish on pimp daddy colors in the 40 foot range.

Boat is slipped for two more weeks, shooting for 3 or 4 more trips to the river.

That looks great, some of the best fishing spots are near the industrial areas. We always troll the St. Louis in Superior, just off the old docks. You do much better than our 2/person/day limit.

“Had to work for a 5 man limit.” Dam! That’s a good morning.

Dang 2 fish per day...we used to be 5 a day until about 2-3 years ago. We've trolled on Erie, but just jig in the river. Some of the hot water discharges in the industrial areas in the dark can lead to doubles and triples pretty consistently.

It was! Just took a bit of experimenting with colors to start connecting with the deeper fish once we left the shallow stuff just after sunrise.
