Date range opinion

I'm planning a Montana archery elk hunt this year. I have two date ranges that would fit in my schedule September 7 through the 13th or Sept 21st through the 27th. If you had to pick a week, what would you pick?

If you know the area and you’re looking for a solitary bull in his bedroom or hitting a wallow, go with the earlier dates.

If you want to try and hit the rut and bugle one in, I would roll the dice and go 9/21 - 9/27. That’s when I’ve had most luck interacting with bulls.

That said opening day last year I called in a nice 6 point and interacted with him half the day but could never get a good shooting lane in the timber.

Depends where you’ll be but for where I usually hunt I can depend on the rut being later.
