Well the boy and I took on a fun project this spring. The neighbors had a hugely big, in fact the biggest, no body built it bigger blind. Unfortunately, 20 years of neglect had taken its toll on it. Black ants and Father Time had eaten away most of one of the 16’ supports. I offered to take it down if we could salvage some for a new blind.

They are older and were more than happy to get it down. I didn’t take any pics because it was severely overgrown.

The rest got documented for them as we rebuilt it from what was still good.

Daughter picked out some paint and we stumbled into mid colored gallons for $15. Made a great primer for her color choice and blacked out the interior.

Ordered 3 42x16 blind windows from zero 4 outdoors. Really like how they work, but it put a hurt on the budget.

The stairs and door came off a FB post on a scrapped camper.

I couldn’t stand the white door so it needed some color. The floor was pretty noisy so we took some scrap carpet and threw it down. Found an old office chair at Goodwill for good napping. Added an Amazon grab handle and got it wrapped up ready for the woods.IMG_4198.jpegIMG_4197.jpeg

We started clearing the path to get it back into the woods today. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, I cut down an autumn olive bush that had a basket ball sized bald face hornet nest in it. I quickly found out that throwing a chainsaw does nothing to stop the swarm. After about 40 stings later along with loss of both my shirt and shoes, the boy and I made it to safety. So work on moving it for today paused till I can kill the nest.

Looks great!!!

I'd be interested in how much it cost you.

Some family members purchased some that a local guy makes, granted they're on a trailer and "fairly" easy to move, they were expensive. Like a few grand expensive. I've been considering building a couple more as they are nice when it's raining, snowing, blowing hard, or just downright cold.

I have less than a $1000 into it. The windows and siding were the most expensive items. Most everything else I tried to catch on sale or on Facebook marketplace.

It’s a 6 x 6 x 10 tall and would fit on any small utility trailer if I needed to move it off the property.

I once sawed straight into a wasp nest that was in the hollow of a tree.

Blind looks great! My daughter has a play house I built for her that as soon as she out grows it will be turned into a blind or two.

Facebook Marketplace is a magical place! I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys can shoot from it this fall!

Bald faced hornets hit hard!

Great looking blind and good learning project. Your boy shoots a buck out of that will be like shooting a buck with ammo that you loaded yourself. Real feeling of self accomplishment.
