I've got a few Bucks, a few Benchmades, and even a Coast knife or two I've managed to hang onto from when I was a kid. When I came across a YouTube video for the MKC Westslope, I was very eager to purchase one. Being a new "customer" to MKC though, I'm completely turned off by waiting around for the knife I want to "drop." Looks like they've found their marketing niche, so props to them. I just won't be one to sit around with baited breath hoping the knife I want will be the next one released.

I did come across a thread here on HT though that mentions custom knife makers generally can deliver a better product and maybe even at a better price point. Any recomendations from the community on who to approach?

@NDGuy is quite the collector and occasionally does some builds. I have one of his and it probably has my favorite handle

I do like my couple of MKC knives but there are priced on the edge of custom

You can find Scott Davidson aka Solid Rock Knives on fb to see if he'll make what you want.

I can’t say enough good things about the guys with Old Henly. They made the knife below using a piece of juniper I cut from a tree where my son and I were posted up when we glassed the first deer he shot. They stabilized the wood so it’s super durable. Well worth the money if you’re looking to do something special.4638D6AD-9257-4437-BED6-3996B5972C23.jpeg

Is Rick Schmidt still pounding steel in the Flathead? He and his dad made Track Knives in the 1980s, and then he went on his own, making functional works of art.

I’ve ordered a couple of pieces from a damascus maker called NoblieCustomKnives, and the quality blew me away. Fit and finish were flawless, and the patterns in the steel are stunning in person.
