So my hunting partner is going to a crossbow this year for elk. Neither of us has any experience with them. He was wondering what kind of broadheads to get. I am not sure for a crossbow. Does anyone have any recommendations for a broadhead. Thanks for any help.

What state? Are mechanical broadheads legal?

Slick Trick for me based on several previous such questions of HuntTalk.

For my shooting, field point=broadhead point of impact.
Extremely sharp out of the package (first time assembly of component parts resulted in a cut thumb pad when I wasn't using as much care as required).
Full pass through and good tracking blood (helps to put it where it is supposed to go).

I've used the Slick Trick standards. Absolutely no complaints with them. I don't see any reason to use a flimsy mechanical on elk.

Quality spine aligned and matched crossbow arrows have as much or more impact on arrow flight than broadhead style..
