Continuing the Gus on a Stump Series.

It was a sunny day, we had a bird, and lo and behold, there's a big cottonwood stump. So continuing the Gus on a stump theme, I tried for another picture. Gus was hardly tired enough to put up with this, and he made that pretty clear...

Eventually, I got a slightly better shot, but it wasn't in focus

This bird was an easy shot but I poorly mounted the gun and that resulted in a lightly shot bird. So Gus had to go to work on him. Not too much trouble. Until I reached down and grabbed it by the tail like a rookie. Pretty soon, all I have is feathers. But Gus loves the chase so he ran it down again. A two-fer...

Only three days left in the season. We will hunt two of them.
