Computer programs

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,Outlook)

Those about cover all the Basics.

Word is for Typing and Excel does all the tables. I use Excel probably more for everyday stuff then I should. It really organizes stuff.

Microsoft Publisher can be used to put Reports and stuff together but Word would work too.

Microsoft Office is great as a bundle because it has everything Moosie said plus Power Point on the newer versions which is good for presentations. Outlook is good for scheduling, I use Access at work everyday and set up a tracking Database at home for Hunters Education Classes.

I jsut bought Microsoft Office 2007 when it came out. Little did I know that $450 would buy me a Program that Palm Software hasn't updated yet to Sync to the F'ing Phone I have for Scheduling.... I'll stop typing before I say something dirty ... ;)

We will definately wait till we upgrade to VISTA. All our financial programs and cadd programs wouldn't run. There is soemthing said for buying an Older version of software. Jsut my .02

LMAO oscar welcome to the outdated world of software and driver less software.
I am stilling running a 10 year old cad cam program

outdated world of software

No, the problem is we have the newest Cadd software and the newest Quickbooks and the Newest OUTLOOK... Problem is they haven't Invented the Software yet for Palm to Outlook. I mean really. It was no FRIGGIN' secret Bill Gates was coming out with Microsoft Outlook '07 and VISTA...... MAke the Dam programs so we can link all the stuff together with them. MAybe Palm doesn't think Microsoft is a Main platform or anything... GEESH.

I do hear you on the Cadd SOftware. We have 3 licenses at $7,500 a piece. We didn't buy the $1000 a piece (YEARLY FEE) to keep on the subscription. So now, in order to upgrade to the Newest version thats coming out next month, We have to Retro the 3k pluss $300 penalties. Then, another 3k for the next year's "Yearly fee". If we don't, as a Company within the first year, then we have to Buy the SEATS again at full price... YAH, $28 THOUSAND DOLLARS !!! I'm mean really.. What the heck !!! If we lapsed, I'm guessing we would have waited 10 years to upgrade agian ourselves.. Running a Bizz is 'spensive !!!! I can se ewhy some people would Pirate and take the Chance. As a Bizz owner, we wouldn't take the chance but man those fees hurt.... Price of doing buisnes I guess. At least I don't have DelW's "Machine Costs" !!!!!!!

when I got this cad cam software it was running around 10K, now its down to5k

I did find another cad cam package 2 4 seats for 1200 and it does fancy work and also integrades with acad.

but then I would have to learn a new system that takes time

Try 1/2 the company on Office 97, 1/2 on 2000 and now we are are upgrading so we have convert all of our databases to be compatible for all end users.

Scotty, Yah, that does suck. I'm guessing we're gonig to have that problem as our company Grows. We've bought 6 computers in the last 9 months so they are all new, fast, lots of memory, and all the same software. Well, Except mine, I jsut got a Smoking new laptop 2 weeks ago and only had the office 2007 option. Everyone else is on the one prior.

The cool thing about "OFFICE" is you can Upgrade anytime. There is an "Upgrade fee on the box. I like that option. I don't like owning the Latest and Greatest. Sure it's cool when it's a New Computer, New Video Game, Etc, but .....Software ?!?!! F' that. There are always compatibility problems with Work software. I don't care what it is. Acad especially. They always come out and for like Every week or two for the next couple months there is a "patch" ever time I clal Tech Support it's "Upload this patch, Use that patch"/ Hell, jsut make me a Product I can use :) I'll use the older more erliable stuff. That being said. The new Civil 3D 2008 Design Package sounds like it's Going to be Kick "A". I'm looking foward to getting it when it hits the Shelves March 17th 2007 at 8AM and I'll be first in line ... ;) ;)

For a small company I could see the expense of upgrading software as the more seats you have the fees go down but I work for one of the largest banks in the world and we are always at least 2 upgrades behind. A couple guys in my department got in trouble for download free upgrades off Microsofts site. The company is paranoid about viruses so they watch everything. I was told I couldn't go to a vendor website to get some of their techsheets so that I can prepare my department for our upgrade.

I had Office on my puter once. Then when I had it worked on it disappeared.

The oldest son bought a new puter with Vista and I need some software for schoolwork. It has a 60 day free trial but the cost of the program is a little much. Maybe if I can find a old version of 2003?
