Colorado GMU 3 private land backed up to BLM

Any advice on a Colorado rifle elk hunt in unit 3? A friend suggested I look for some private land backed up to BLM or public land for a 2nd or 3rd week hunt. It sits about 6000 feet. Anyone have any past experience in this unit they would mind to share?

Hi,
Hunted Unit 3 in 2019, my wife & I. We had a great time, lucked out with the weather. Had 3rd season and earlier snow had the elk moving. Great deer area but the Elk are mostly migratory and weather dependent.

Have the 3rd season mule deer tag. Thinking about picking up an elk tag with the later dates.
