Anyone have any info on Rifle hunts for Mule deer in Colo. For a DIYer?

Did one a couple of years ago north of Craig. Pretty good blm available that had travel restrictions so you could get away from the casual hunters.

I always start with a Benchmark Atlas for the state I am interested in. This will give you a general idea of how much public land is in a GMU. Then go to the Colorado DOW website and look up harvest rates and points required to draw that area. There are so many factors for Colorado like points, and different hunt seasons that you have to do a lot of research.

What part of the State are you wanting to hunt? What type of terrain? There's everything from Alpine to croplands

Yeah, we need more info.

Not that we'd help you anyway, ;) but Colorado's deer numbers are way down over what they were. Hopefully this year's milder winter has been a help to the deer population. Last year any deer tag in NW Colorado was a premium. A friend of mine from Denver who has drawn for my place for the last 9 years didn't get a tag. Neither did I for that matter.
