“Cold Shot” of the Day ‘25

IMG_8238.jpeg

I’ve been trying to work myself back about 2” from where I originally taught myself to shoot.
When I started bow hunting in 2014 I just walked the leg and always managed to dangerously hug that crease.
Last year and this year I’m trying to walk off it about 2”. Way easier to do on a target, but when auto-pilot kill mode rolls in…. I always find my way in there again. Hopefully after more practice and technique training I’ll be good.

That said - another great day of shooting considering work is a fricken nightmare due to world events.

40 arrows, a nice Missouri sunset, and some deer in my pasture helped ground me.

Happy shooting!

A little to the right but it wasn't a miss. Decided to shoot the old school bow first.View attachment 374836
does that classify as traditional? Not causing a fight. Never really got into Oneida's. Is it an improved recurve? what are the benefits over a "normal" recurve? I do believe a lot of bowfishermen have taken to them.

Not in my eyes for the simple reason of the let off you get. Think mine is 50%. I just love the Oneida bows for the fact they were the cool bows when I grew up in the 80s watching ole Ted and always wanted one when I was a kid. I have two I pack around when the mood hits me. I shoot traditional recurve also quite a bit and the latest and greatest compounds. The older I get the more I enjoy traditional.

The Oneida’s were always an interesting bow to me. I’ve never shot one but I keep my eye out for used ones.

Cold shot at 12 yards with the recurve yesterday.

I'm shooting ok, but it still feels like luck as opposed to skill. With my compound bow I shoot right where I aim. With the recurve, I shoot instinctual and I really don't know what I am doing. I figure the more practice I have the more instinctual I will get. Just like throwing a ball they say...
