CO Unit 55

I am first time elk hunter and I got drawn for a Colorado archery tag in unit 55. My brother and I are planning to do a backpack hunt in second half of September. We are expecting a tough hunt and having to cover a lot of miles. While I would be satisfied with some solid encounters, I'd really like to shoot an Elk, either sex. If anyone has suggestions or advice they'd like to offer about this area, I'd greatly appreciate it.
