Ok Im not looking for your honey hole I'm from Louisiana and really can not make a scouting trip up there, can someone just point in the right direction? We may be putting in for the muzzloader season if not the second rifle. I'm really just wanting to know if its worth our efforft or just try somewheres else. Thanks and God Bless.

Muzzleloader has less number of hunters, rifle seasons is crazy, you have to hike in a couple miles to get somewhat away from the crowds.
Muzzleloader bull tags takes several pref ponts to draw.
Good elk population with good success rate.
I have hunted there several times but it has been a few years ago.
The Rough Creek Drainage has been a good place to start. The area where unit 12 and 231 border has been good for us.
Depnding on how my Wyoming draw comes out ,I may be there this fall.

I would look into the first rifle season and not the second season.Alot of the elk get pushed to private land by the second season.
Get in the best condition you can,elk hunting can be some hard work.
