Ah, you've been chasing the devil bird.
On an average Idaho day, I'd say 4-5.
On an average Nevada day, I'd say 5-6.
Somedays I'd break up a covey of 50-60 birds and spend the day busting smaller groups of the original group.
I sure do miss those little buggers. The wiley ringneck is a suitable substitue though.

That's about right for Oregon, too. Best day this season I found 12 coveys. Well, my dogs found them. I just followed the dogs.
