The only chukar trip I’ve been on, I’d hunt hard one day, then fish the next day and let the dog recover.

Chukar can be hard for sure, but I’d take going up and down some steep inclines over busting thru cattails and snow drifts any day. That shit all day is truly the worst.

I try and incorporate cast and blast options in all my trips. I love fishing, and it just works out my dog gets a break. I've got one dog now, and have to very mindful of his condition on all trips. Last thing I want to do is hurt the dude. He's not a horizon buster, but he does range a bit, but slower pace.

I concur in regards to the drift busting and cattails. Even thick CRP can tick me off. I usually forget about the suck once birds start flushing, then I'm an idiot and keep trucking.

Scouted all summer for a buddies sheep tag north of Battle Mountain, NV. Saw plenty of birds, but mostly adults.

It’s fun! I went last fall for the first time and didn’t kill a single one. Going to go again this fall. Not sure I’ll do any better. It’s nice being able to yell obscenities when I miss them and know there isn’t any human nearby for miles that can hear it.

Chukar hunting has become my favorite hunting variety. Love all the other big game, etc but if I have to choose one last hunt, it’s a Chukar hunt with a pair of my setters.

Lol! I'm sure there will be a few of those. The area I'm planning to go is steeper than $hit so we'll see if I have enough oxygen to yell some.

It's really not that bad. California BHS live in a variety of terrain.

Love the 870's. Wish I could find a wingmaster someone doesn't want anymore.

I love my 1979 12 GA Wingmaster. Fixed full choke/ no tubes. Full Rib. I won't drag it over the basalt rocks.

It has killed many limits of quail over the years. At about a box of shells per limit for me, that's a lot of upland loads.

It is a wicked ruffed grouse sluicer.

My mother gifted it to my dad for his 45th birthday. I've had it for quite a few years now, but with their death this year it is more precious than ever.

I’ve never encountered a cat but I have a friend who killed a tom with 7.5s as it run past him at close range.

I’ve never had a snake problem but I make sure it’s not too warm out.

No issues with dogs chasing birds off a cliff but do have an acrobat who jumps off cliffs.
