I am not a religious person, but I know there are a fair amount of varied worldviews on HuntTalk. The recent Meateater Podcast "Walking the Edge" with religious scholar Bracy Hill, was about the junction of Christianity and Hunting. Sort of a theological discussion on hunting, ethics, and environmentalism from a Christian perspective. I found it to be a refreshing take on hunting. In the limited conversations I've had with more religious folks as it pertains to hunting, often the word "dominion" is thrown out there and that's where the buck stops. This goes a fair amount deeper if you haven't heard it. Listening from a more secular perspective myself, I really enjoyed it.

That was a fascinating podcast. Really enjoyed Hill's thoughts on why the idea of "dominion" needs some rethinking.

@ the 1:43:00 mark Hill touches on my understanding of the Biblical concept of "dominion." "Dominion" interpretated as responsible stewardship of a world that is given for us to live in, not just a possession to be used, trashed and disposed of since it's all going to burn up anyway.

Lots of interesting concepts. Worth the listen.

There's alot of biblical verses that deal with land and animals. The dominion that is spoken of is that of managing of these God given resources for the present and future generations. God knew then that there was a need for conservation and environmental management.

Just finished listening, it’s seemed more of a theological/religious perspective than a Believer perspective

Agreed.

I have a BA in Biblical Studies and a Masters of Divinity. I've been in the field for 18 years now...
...so my take on the guest on Rinellas podcast is very much studying religion from a secular viewpoint. Those of the Christian faith will probably disagree with most of his points. The guest is right about 50%, but many of his opinions and assessments are very nuanced, and a Biblical scholar would probably disagree with him. I would liken getting my theological points from him similar to getting sushi at a gas station. Probably dont want to do it.

As for the topic, a Biblical perspective on conservation and engagement with Creation is something I am very passionate about. If I ever come up with $15k. For my doctorate that's exactly what it will be on.

I’m not a religious person either, but this was one of the more interesting MeatEater podcasts I’ve heard. Very interesting, cool stuff.

I listen to several podcasts every week going back and forth from MT to ND. This one was a decent listen...I never really knew what a “nimrod” was before listening ;)
