Im E scouting, but an area Im looking at is dead of winter and snow covered. Lakes frozen, etc.

Is there a way to look at satellite pictures from google earth not in the winter?

OnX is fine, but I like the 3D images GE provides.

At the bottom of the frame there should be a little clock with an arrow and a date. If you hover over it, it will say "see historical imagery from xxxx year". Click on it and it will bring up a slider for you to choose through available image dates.

I would also suggest getting the Bing aerial layer. It sometimes has better imagery than GE. Especially true in Alaska...

Google, Bing, Onxmaps... are all getting their imagery from the same vendor, Digital Globe, the differences are due to their contracts... without getting too in the weeds digital globe won't sell their "good" stuff to public data providers like google... and then they have a pricing structure based on image quality and how much imagery you wan to buy.

30cm res exists for most of the planet but you have to buy it... someone on the forum might have a company or gov agency that has access to "enhanced view" or earth watch and can send you a screen shot of your area.
