Twice in the last few years, spring turkey hunters have inadvertantly called in mt. lions in the area where I live. Both of these hunters were stalked while seated and calling. When they first saw the cats, the cats were already crouched close by. Both cats were apparently trying to figure out why the turkeys were so big, wearing camo, and stinking like humans. Both cats were shot at with turkey loads. One died after three shells. One got hit and took off. It was eventually tracked down and finished off by the fish & game folks that day. Turkey season is coming up soon and I'd be lying if I said never think about this while yelpin. In fact, it gives me the willies! Anybody ever try baiting cats, useing your self as bait!

Howdy Elmo,

Yep, I was catbait once. I rattled a pair of lions in while whitetail hunting. I never saw them but when I went to walk off after rattling I found their tracks where they'd snuck in then sat and watched me from about 30 yards. Spooooky!

Elmo-Cow calls and Turkey calls seem to be a recipee for catbait!!

I know of several people who have seen lions or their tracks, from cow calls, and have heard of the turkey thing too. Might work better than a predator call!
