Does anyone have any tricks for caping antelope? I didn't realize how delicate the fur was on those critters. Luckily I started further back than normal and I was only 10 minutes from the taxidermist, so mine turned out fine. I was wondering if there was anything you can do to help prevent from beating the cape up especially if you're out for a few days and can't get to a taxidermist right away. I'm afraid I'd loose half the fur if I had to hold on to it for more than half a day.

Have to keep any cape cold and dry. If no option for cold you better learn how to cape and turn ears at least half way and cut off any meat and fat on the hide and rub some salt in. A small zip lock bag full of salt can do a couple capes. Number one thing is cool and dry, or warm dry and salted well. It is bactieria that ruins the cape
