I have 2 of the motorola radios though not this type and mine work good for the 2 miles but eat the batteries.
Don't know about those with the rechargeable power packs though. But, for $20.00 it would be good to have a couple for use with the family during a sporting event or if a couple of you go driving/ hiking abouts.
