Bury Me In The Mackenzie Mountains

Just off the mountain, Pat. I’ll reach out when I get home. It wasn’t sheep, but likely an epic Mountain Caribou trip I’ll never again replicate.
I’m in the process of scribing my notes from this hunt. We leave base camp tomorrow, overnight in Norman Wells, then overnight in Edmonton the following day, before driving home.
Marcus has his normal epic images and footage. Our trip was not the level of adventure a sheep hunt holds, especially a 21-day trip like @psinclair did, but it was amazing in its own way.
A week in one of the most picturesque and scenic valleys on this continent, with daily grizzly sightings, sheep watching us scale the ridges, and warm weather forcing us to climb to the places where caribou could avoid bugs and have cooler temps.
Mike with his bow, Marcus with his cameras, and me with a .308. Made all that more memorable by an amazing guide, Riley, and a support staff at base camp who excels in doing these remote hunts.
When I get home I’ll start a different thread for this hunt.
For a teaser, here’s Mike’s archery bull from Day 3, a 9.8 mile round trip with enough elevation to remind you why these are called “Mountain” caribou. An incredible stalk to 29 yards where one well-placed arrow did the job.
Even though P&Y has a velvet Caribou category and this would be way up towards the top of the list, Mike isn’t going to enter it. He’s having the antlers split (which would disqualify any entry) so it can be more easily shipped back home.
