Anybody have experience with getting a company to make custom dials for a Burris scope?

I have a Leupold CDS scope. The dials were ok but I was having trouble seeing them as the lettering was faint in low light and small. When sent my gun in for load development they recommended Kenton. The numbers are bigger, brighter and the better grip with gloves on.

Have 3 different Burris dials, different guns, different ammo, all easy to read.

But do they work at 500 yards

They cut them for whatever you want. Mine are 200-700 yards.

Burris dial on my C4 scope for my 7stw. Called them up, gave them my drops, and it's spot-on.

The better the data you can give them the more accurate the dial will be!

They need your load, elevation and temperature. While you’ll hunt in different temps and elevation ( which doesn’t change bullet much unless really long range) they need the info to make dials. It’ll be printed on top of dial.

Another option if the scope already has a dial you like is a sticker. Cheaper than the full turret dial, especially if you change bullets etc. Google search Custom Turret Systems, I've used them and been happy with their product.
