I don't know much about rifle callibers, a friend of mine has one and talked me into getting one for my daughters when they hunted. They liked it and were not afraid to shoot it, which was a goal of mine so they would hopefully want to go shoot/hunt more.

I have the same gun in 30-06 only blued and love it. Would like to have the 25 for deer hunting. LIL
