My brother is up in Montana, he called me from Bozeman yesterday, he was telling me how beautiful it is up there! he is heading for Red Lodge today, and then to Anastasia for wedding on saturday, anyway he has already seen lots of deer/turkeys/elk he was impressed with the size of your white tails up there, it sounds like heaven. looks like we will have to plan a Montana trip next summer. He said you guys/girls in Montana have it made as far as hunting goes. Ive been mostly up in west Montana [Missuola/Kalispell/Columbia falls/whitefish/ and i couldn`t agree more.

Montana's hunting sucks ;) But the work is hard to come by, well good paying wages anyway.

Where is Anastasia? I've never heard of it...

I agree that the hunting around Western Montana is absolutely the best. Bozeman, Red Lodge, Missoula, Hamilton, Kalispell, Butte, Dillon etc. are probably head and shoulders above anything out east. If your bro or you are thinking of coming I would concentrate all your efforts over there.

Good advice Nemont. It is a big state to find game, but knowing those hotspots really shortens the learning curve.

Thanks for the info guys, but i probably won`t be hunting up there [but i might someday] we were talking about taking a travel trailer and cruising around the west idaho/montana next summer, but i might do some fishing. we live in HELL in july/aug. down here in the desert and it would be nice to get out of the heat, how big is Anastasia? I think someone here on hunttalk is from there [heck he might even be in the wedding saturday] :D

CJ,

I think your bro must have meant Silesia. I have been through that whole country a couple of times and have not encountered Anastasia. The other possibility would be Absarorkee. just fyi nothing else.

Thanks Nemont, i was just going by what my brother was telling me, Hell he is probably "lost" somewhere in Montana, as i haven`t heard from him since saturday.

I seem to see record book animals coming from the side of the state that these Eastern Montana Boy's are denouncing, on a regular basis. I wouldn't take to much stock in why they would be telling you this area is great to hunt in. The Griz are thick over here and you have a great chance of being eaten. You should of course carry pepper spray and wear bells on your shoes. That way we can tell the difference in the black bear poop and the griz poop... ;)
