Had a Euro fall off the wall and glue/patience is not gonna cut it. Pretty bummed. Anyone have skull caps mounted nicely they’d like to share?

That sucks, sorry to hear. This is the best looking one I have seen. Done with deer hide.

I can kind of relate.

My wife came bebopping in the house the other day and rolled my best euro’s off the table onto the concrete floor and 75 chunks of skull and teethe went all over the floor. She looked up at me and didn’t know what to say. I thinking she expected at least a minor freak out.

I knew she had a bad day so I just quickly said “I like puzzles”

I gathered up all of the broken pieces and got out another tube of harbor freight super glue and in 10 minutes we were back in business…pretty sure the dog ate a few of the teethe though…. Lol

That is nice, is that bone covered up or just something you screw the antlers to?
Honestly I don’t know, it was the big game animal I ever shot and I had a taxidermist in Gypsum, CO do it. Feels like it was something the antlers were screwed into or formed because I only cut a small V of the skull out at the antlers, not the full skull plate or anything.

There was a mix up on my red stag instructions with the taxidermist in New Zealand and they skull capped it thinking I was going to get it shoulder mounted but I was wanting to get it euro’d. They swear they will be able to take my skullcap and put it on another stags skull and it will be almost impossible to tell. I will find out in about 8 months I guess.

Couple different options, if you want to keep the euro, read about this guy this morning,

Or do as was shown above by @Dsnow9 with just the skull plate screwed to the plaque and covered with leather or as my Mom used to do, red velvet with gold braid around the antler bases.

Here’s one of those fake skulls. Turned out alright. Fell off the wall and broke the nose off.IMG_9235.jpeg
Here’s a skull cap. My beetle guy did it for me. But basically followed this process:

Thank you. Looks like just as much or more work as the euro took 😂🤣 but that will definitely make this look a whole lot better and is very detailed. I’ll have to make it happen…

The traditional ones I saw you screw the skull cap to a plaque. Then form around it with sort of a paper mache. Then cover it and trim with a fabric/leather of your choice.

Most kits have just a little form you cover the skullcap with which is easier but not quite as cool looking.

Hmm I appreciate you guys. Lesson learned, don’t trust cheap skull mounts..
my only bull lol.
Well, it will probably be awhile but I’ll update the progress as I get started

Not sure what nicely means to you, but I’ve used the the skull hooker bone bracket for 2 or 3 deer and 1 elk and they look nice enough for me. I’ll caveat it with those ones are all hung in the garage and didn’t make the cut for in the house.

Are all of those in your kitchen all of the time? 😳 I am delegated to having all skulls and “dead” things to the shop/garage… as per the Mrs. Full stop! 😁😂
