Boyds quality has been going down and their prices have been going up for quite a long time now. Even so I decided to take a chance and upgrade my CVA Optima V2. My mistake. The wood is really rough on the inletting in the forend. There isn't enough wood on the top rear edge to cover frame cutout leaving a gap. The buttstock also doesn't have enough wood on the top edge to cover the frame cutout also leaving a gap. The buttstock also didn't come with a swivel stud. Overall the fit really sucks and the finish is just okay. Definitely not worth the money spent as well as the 1.5 month wait. If I could have found a better laminated wood stock I would have ordered one but didn't see any. I'll be keeping the buttstock and forend and see if I can somehow make it fit better. This is the last order that I'll place with Boyds. I would think long and hard about other stock options before ordering any stock from them.

I ordered an At One for my 17… crossing my fingers. I’ll return if there are problems like this. We get what we allow.

That really sucks. I've had good luck with Boyds, but I have heard of some quality control issues from others. I did 2 of them last year. One was a 7 prc build with a Howa 1500 barreled action and the other was a Savage axis II that I've had for years and my boys love to shoot. Both were the At One stocks. I had my gunsmith do the bedding and set them and he was happy with the quality they came with. Both shoot very well and the finish is very good on both.

That's a bummer. I've had several made for rifles and 870s, no issues. Most recent was a 870 20 gauge last summer. Definitely getting more expensive, but everything else is too.
