Are modern elk different to bow hunt than ancient elk?

When I was a kid elk were about 50 times more likely to come to a gas pipe bugle.

Today you are about 50 times more likely to hear other hunters calling elk.

I think elk Today are very different than ancient elk. In my lifetime elk behavior has changed drastically at least on public land, in and out of the rut.
