Boundary waters under attack

New legislation introduced in the MN legislature...remember the mine needs state permits...including a bill I thought was savvy...banning any mining company who has a history of environmental regulation violations from doing business in the state. (Chilean company Antofagasta has a long history of violations...see https://www.savetheboundarywaters.o...ean-mining-giant-rushing-ruin-boundary-waters).

And the state has a narrow split in the legislature. All signs and polls show Dems taking over next fall.

You nailed it. Mining in the boundary waters has been a 30-year+ strawman. Whoever is in power gets the stick for a few whacks on it. There is no way a mine gets permitted and through every litigious action in our lifetimes, or probably ever.

As someone that owns land in St Louis county, MN, it's beyond troubling that this passed on so many levels. Know strong conservatives who are strongly against this insanity. Am 7/8th's Swede and really enjoy Sigurd Olson's writing and his history of protecting the BWCA. He was in a constant struggle to protect the BWCA. There's so much history having to fight these things. It will never cease. Ever.

Thank you Randy for your efforts and keeping up with all these issues, and keeping people informed. It is no easy task and the tax it takes on a person is tremendously burdensome more often than not. You are greatly appreciated and am humbled and grateful for the work you put into all these issues.

Keep up the fight!
Agreed, @Big Fin! When I get discouraged you always bring a hopeful message to your podcast to keep the shoulder to the grindstone and keep pushing! Thanks for carrying so much weight! It’s very appreciated and producing future advocates. I take hope in that maybe the darkness and corruption that is so blatantly put in our face, we be the cause for us as a civilization to agree to change it-that should be a bipartisan issue we all agree on!
