Just got a call from my buddy who spent the last 14 days at Playa Del Carmen and finally hit the weather right after his third trip down and even on this one his guide cancelled him 3 days in a row because it was too windy.
He hooked 11 and landed and released 6. Other than making up a couple extra furled leaders for next year, he said top of his list is new sunglasses. He has what he thought are great polarized, but his guide was seeing fish he couldn't see so ended up half the time just telling him where to cast.
The guide he got was no nonsense sense and asked him up front if he was there to sightsee or catch fish. He said he probably tipped the guy more than he should have, but he got in all the fishing he could handle and learned a ton for his first time.
Damn retired guys, anyway!
