Black hills who filled there deer tag?

We had 2 filled tags out of eight. Hunting was tough.

Nice deer.
Not trying to start anything, but I'm curious how one hunts whitetail in timber but also cover 8 miles in a day? Were you keeping on the move looking to cut the track of a big buck, or hoping to spot a rutting/moving buck while you yourself are on the move?
Seriously just curious.

Great question. We hiked aways in and moved slow when we got to our target area. Our first trip to the Hills. No doubt, hunting was tough.

Great bucks! Congrats we hunted early 4-12. But herd Is definitely suffering. Did ya pass many bucks?
I’m talking either one South Dakota and Wyoming . We hunted really close to South Dakota . I think storms could of helped later. And was driving through South Dakota hills a lot .
I was happy my kid killed his first whitetail buck. Older son was a little discouraged not finding an older buck. But that’s hunting.
