I lived in the Hills on the SD side and chased turkey quite a bit in that area. You'll find birds on the Nat'l Forest land and hanging around pastures. They like the logging roads that run along ridge tops for strutting areas. Can be quite a bit of snow (or none at all) in the Hills in mid-April so I'd suggest hunting the middle to later half of the season, or hunt lower elevation areas. Then again, late season is no guarantee for nice weather. I hunted in snow every week of that season. Get a Black Hills Nat'l Forest map, it'll help out a bunch.
