My oldest boy is turning 14 in about a month and wants to have some buddies over, I took two of them deer hunting for the first time this year and they both shot does and really enjoyed it and seem hooked. What I was thinking for his birthday is taking them all four duck hunting at my duck hole. What do you guys think? Or maybe a squrriel hunt would be better as we wouldn't have to get up early, they will probably stay up late I just don't know. My wife said maybe a skeet shoot, and also said ask my fellow hunt talkers as I enjoy the forum so much. Any thoughts helpful. His birthday is Jan 6.

Small game is always an awesome option...rabbits and squirrels are plentiful and if you miss one, you can find another one fairly quickly. Besides, they are all going to be up late playing xbox the night before and they're not going to want to get up too early.

I have great memories hunting with my old man for squirrels. Doesn't take much stealth or quietness just keep your eyes searching the trees while your moving and there's usually plenty of them in the trees to have a good time. That would be my vote.

I agree with Eric^^^. My fondest memory was my dad taking me squirrel hunting, bringing the squirrels home and enjoying Brunswick stew made from them. It gave me a sense of accomplishment knowing that I brought the meat home. That's what drive my hunting to this day, 40 odd years later. Plus, it was just a fun hunt for me as a kid.
