Bird dog saves the day

Shot a nice Tom last weekend, but lost it in tall grass and thick cover. Came back with the dog and he found it in 5 minutes, a chase ensued and the bird lost. Unfortunately he lost all his tail feathers in the scuffle, but I got the meat and that’s the most important.

I bet that was a sight! I remember when my lab caught his first wounded pheasant. Looked like that bird exploded from all the feathers flying around.

I had my first Drahthaar track down a big wounded Tom years ago.

It was quite a scuffle whe she caught up to him and the ground was ripped up like two deer had been jousting at the retrieval site.
