We are lucky to have as a Hunt Talk regular, a guy with the level head, common sense, and understanding of conservation history as has Ben Long. Ben continues to use his podium at Outdoor Life to remind us that conservation has not always been popular, is seldom easy, usually inconvenient, and always uncomfortable, even for a guy like Theodore Roosevelt.

Thanks for pushing the message, Ben.

Ben Long that was an excellent article..

Cushman. you make your point in not so classic language. Still appreciated.

Having well spoken people on large stages like (outdoor life, field and streem, oyoa and Peterson's) is the only way to prevail.

We all know John speaks for us,from the heart. Or maybe he is just channeling us? He is deep.

Awesome Ben! The real hero of Pelican Island was one lone guy who singlehanded guarded it and wrote Roosevelt repeatedly about the need to protect it. One man can make a difference, I believe his name was Paul Krueger.

I learned about this on our trip o Florida a few years ago. Crazy that we are still fighting the same battle. Great article, thanks Ben.
