Bear Recipes?

I never hunt ducks alone.....To be honost, I've never shot a duck, but the guys I hunt with are damn good shots..

I actually meant to send Oak some duck/goose jerky this winter after some disparaging comments he made about them but we had the in-laws over and it all got eaten before I could get any in the mail. I don't think anything makes jerky as well as goose. I've also made some dynamite sausage out of duck/goose.

Bear...I can't help you. I'm the worlds worst bear hunter and I doubt I'll get out to any of the areas that are still open at this point.

Just saw that....LMAO. Seems the guys I hunt quail with are damn good shots too...they claim em all.

You guys are nuts saying duck is nasty. The key is to cut it up in small 1/2" cubes, take a 1/2 strip of bacon and coat it with jalapeno cream cheese and wrap the bacon and cream chease around the duck and stick it with a toothpick. I call them duck balls for entertainment value and you would be suprised at how fast they go at parties. New Years Eve is the perfect time to clear the freezer of some of that duck.

It's also good to have a cold adault beverage handy to cool the mouth of jalapeno.

Baerman is right...People would get pissed if he doesn't make his duck balls at our company annual wild game feed.

As far as bear hunting goes I'd like to tag along with somebody one of these days just to see if it is something I'd like to do.

Cooked up some bear Chili the other night. I was a little nervous, thinking I would stink up the house while frying the meat first. There was no stink and the chili came out awesome!!! Didn't even share with the dogs.

One last note on the bear chili results. I was shocked that, while, most wild game (elk/deer) will give people gas problems, the bear did not. Interesting observation I thought. Something only a guy would notice......

I think it's both. I don't miss the gurgle, gurgle in my gut, but I miss the family entertainment. And my wife's so used to it, it doesn't seem to bother her anymore. I guess that's true love.

I like bear fine but not my favorite. Marinate strips in an italian dressing and grill it. Not bad. I like lion a lot better. I love duck and goose breast cut in strips and cooked with onoins and bell pepper strips in teriyaki. Wrap in a tortilla and it is awesome.

I had lion once and it was actually pretty good, it was just the fact that I was eating a cat that I didn't care for. Folks probably have the same thoughts about eating bear. To me it's like eating a dog, but it's not that bad. Besides, isn't dog eaten all over the world? We had tacos in Tiawanna when I was a kid......they said it was beef, but it wasn't. We were guessing either horse or dog. Whatcha don't know won't hurt ya I guess. Dinner at my house is mystery meat every night. Keeps the fam on their toes.....
