I need your help.
As some of you may remember, my son was supposed to go on a youth elk hunt in Utah this past season, but due to the circumstances that got canceled, so I am trying to make that up to him by us going on a bear hunt this spring/summer. Don't know if age will matter, but he will turn 15 this coming summer. Looking at both of us hunting, also.
He doesn't get out of school until June 5th, so it needs to be after that and before football season starts in mid August. I want to DIY, and it will need to be spot & stalk as I won't be able to do the baiting thing and I don't own any tree stands. We will be driving in and setting up camp and have about a week to hunt. We are not equipped to do a long hike in and set up a camp, so the camp area will need to be close to a road, have no problem hiking in for day hunts, though.
I haven't done a lot of research on bear hunts yet, so what I am looking for is some suggestions on what States would be a good starting place that kind of match my criteria. I guess I have to say, to keep from getting jumped on, I am not looking for anybodies honey holes (no pun intended) UNLESS of course, you want to give them to me.

, just generalities, hell, right now I will be happy with a state to start looking at and try to figure out the licenses, tags, permits, draws etc.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated by my son & I.
