I always thought that should be changed to "never shoot on the last day what you would pass on the first day."

My guess is that you have a little more opportunity to hunt elk than a guy like me lol. Likely at a lower cost as well.

You’re right, and I guess it’s probably more true for mule deer than elk. Obviously it’s a personal preference, but I’d rather eat a tag than a 2x2 idiot muley.

I would shoot a doe before anything less than 3x3 buck and elk a cow before anything less than a 4x4 bull.
