Looking into getting a base camp/hot tent for at least 4 people so looking at something with a range of 6-8 people. I have a seek outside cimmaron but would like to have a base camp/wall tent type of tent to set up for a central location when I take the kids with more so they have a little more comfort. I have been researching the Cabelas Alaskan guide 6 or 8 person tent which looks pretty bombproof but it’s not a hot tent which is not an absolute no go or the king camp c5 which is a hot tent. Does anyone have these tents and what are your experiences? Durability?

What not a traditional wall tent with a stove?

I have the Cabela's Alaskan Guide 6 person. In my opinion if there will be 3 or more people and I was getting a Cabela's, it would be the 8 person.

Two people with lots & gear fill a 6 person quickly in my opinion but I admit I don't like to be crowded.

Yup. Got the same tent iirc. I agree.

Yip this one. Have had one for about 15 years. Had 8 people in it with a grizzly wood stove and a kitchen. We have 2 vestibules for it. That’s a must. We camp in all sorts of weather too. Just be careful of moose and the tightening ropes.
