Thanks for the correction Bill...I shanked itDisregard @noharleyyet it absolutely cannot be either.
The groove diameter is .284”, the lands diameter is .277”. That’s a standard 7mm or .284” barrel. It can be chambered for any cartridge which shoots .284” bullets. It is not suitable for anything .277”.
Because is has 5 groves, you can’t measure from one groove to the other groove, but if you drew a circle whose circumference touched the deepest portion of every groove, it would measure .284” in diameter, and if you drew a circle that touched the top of every land, it would measure .277”. You can measure that diameter with a small hole gauge.
It happens. I’ve shanked it plenty of times. Usually loudly. Thanks for the correction Bill...I shanked it
Yes, but a 5R .284 ain't never gonna be smaller...SeppukuIt happens. I’ve done it. Usually loudly.
Thanks fellas, learning as I go.
This will be a semi-custom Tikka in 7mm-08 in a McMillan Game Hunter with High Desert Rifle Works bottom metal, cerakoted in Cobalt.
I just put 35 rounds down a new bartlein, no comparison to the brux it replaced but to be fair, I didn't really know much with that brux and I think it paid the price.
